The Washington County Tourist Development Council held its regularly scheduled workshop and meeting on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.
The TDC received the following reports as part of their meeting:
Richard Sanders, of the Panama City Convention and Visitor Bureau, was on hand to talk talk with board members about the history os sports marketing he has handled in that county. He cautioned the board about potential mistakes and areas of concern.
The recent Washington County Heritage Fest drew more than 9,000 individuals, with 65% of those coming from outside the county.
They also supported holding ‘Rock the Falls Music Festival 2016 at Falling Waters State Park on Oct. 1, 2016. The event will feature Southern Rock and Blues.
The board also took the following actions:
- Approved the expenditure of $1,300 to reprint 25,000 colored brochures for Falling Waters State Park.
- Approved a memo of understanding with the Dixue Pre-Majors World Series to provide $10,000 in funding to conduct the World Series in Chipley, July 27-Aug.1, 2016. Contingent on receiving the bid for the Pre-aMajors.
- Approved awarding the bid of $1,500 for a three month Facebook campaign to Halifax Media Group.
